9 months agoWow! This is a significant upgrade from the Amazon Fire TV 55" Omni Mini-LED Series, QLED 4K UHD smart TV (Model ML55F700) I bought in November 2024. I decided to purchase this TV because the ML55F700 does not work with my Logitech Harmony Home Hub (I tried everything imaginable and had an open tech support case with Logitech for several months). Logitech recently posted information revealing that Amazon intentionally closed their remote API controls and ecosystem to prevent third party product development. The Hisense 55U88QG worked instantly with the Harmony Home Hub system, although I did have to tell the Harmony system that I was using a 55U8N television because the 55U88QG wasn't available in the list of models. I did this following the advice from Microsoft CoPilot. Harmony Home Hub accepted it and I have all the control functionality I was expecting. This Hisense (55U88QG) TV is similar in cost to the Amazon Fire TV but the specs are significantly better. The brightness of the screen is remarkable (up to 5000 nits) and the black content in images really does look black. It works with my Harmony Home Hub system seamlessly. I've only had the television for one day but so far it's performed leaps and bounds better than my Amazon ML55F700. I use a Sony home theatre system for sound so I can't fairly compare the sound of the Hisense TV to that. The Hisense does have better sound than the Amazon Fire TV, which is to be expected because it's comparing (Amazon ML55F700) 2.1 Dolby Atmos sound to (Hisense 55U88QG) multi-channel 4.1.2 sound. The Hisense TV is thicker than the Amazon Fire TV. I expect this is to support the two subwoofers that are built into it as well as making space for the sound to travel out the top and sides of the television. I've been watching the 2026 Winter Olympics. The upscaling to 4K is remarkable, with the detail and colors far more detailed compared to the Amazon ML55F700. When I switch to a true 4K source, the image is breathtaking; it's like looking through a window. The Hisense TV does have Google TV and all the apps I normally would use are available there; setup was simple. No regrets: I'm not missing using the (slower) Amazon Fire TV interface. During setup you'll have the option to limit what Google collects for information; my IT background strongly urges you to restrict information collection. I know it's only been a day using it but so far this Hisense television has exceeded my expectations. I recommend it.

1 year agoAmazing TV, the picture quality is fantastic. It's so bright and the colors pop. Watching something in 4k is incredible. There's no movement blurr for sports or gaming. Sound is decent for a TV, not great. The stand is a bit odd as the legs reach out far so there's hardly any room in front for a soundbar. You need a very wide TV stand. No issues connecting, setup was easy if you already have Google home or Google on your mobile.

1 year agoHisense 65U88QG - 65" 4K Smart Mini-LED PRO Google TV (2025 Model) So this is my first TV upgrade in over 15 years so I spent an insane amount of time researching the best TV I could get for my money and can I say I went down one of the largest rabbit holes for about a week and a half learn stuff that the average TV viewer probably doesn't need to know and I landed with this TV after all that research. So I decided to get the 65 over the 55 honestly with my setup 55 would have been perfect the 65 is insanely huge for retrospect I've never had a TV that's this big in my life I normally stick to like 40 and 32. Let me tell you the things I learned about: - the brightness is different on every size TV even if it's advertised as 5000... - the display type is also different per TV size some being ADS & VA. - the sound quality improves based on the size of the TV. At first I thought wow that's a lot of brightness maybe it's too much well... didn't really need to ask that question because I can turn the brightness down the TV not to mention the 65-in only hits about 3,000 ish. Now the reason I went for the 65 inch over the 55 was due to the fact that the display type was VA which has many more advantages over an ADS display type, the dimming zones are also higher with the 65 at 2048 meaning it already has double that of the 55 inch which means better picture quality. Now if you're curious about the difference in ads versus VA panels here you go: VA: slower response times. Superior contrast and brightness which enhances HDR, deeper blacks, higher brightness. ADS: in short it has reduced of everything above although it offers higher response times which can reduce blur but it's super minor. It's also less ideal for a dark room but it has much wider viewer angles making it better for off-centered seating. Now personally I'm a heavy gamer but I'm also a super big movie buff so a VA was the best option for me it's unfortunate I couldn't get it at a 55 but the 65 is amazing and has much better sound quality. My overall experience has been amazing it arrived in one day and it wasn't damaged, I definitely don't need a soundbar it's incredibly loud the subwoofer is insane and it can also be turned off if it's too much maybe if you have a bigger area then it might be worth it but I would say hold off and make the decision after you get the tv. the picture quality is immaculate it blows my mind away I would say it's incredibly close to OLED picture quality (this information has been quoted from many sources and tons of research) it is even better since mini LEDs are completely immune to burn in with the amount of time I will be spending on this TV that's incredibly important. I've tested the HDR capabilities the IMAX and the GAMING all have completely blown me away I'm incredibly excited to start doing home premieres as where I live the quality of this TV is definitely better than what's offered in the theaters anyone who says it has bad color need them eyes checked asap. Set up took a little bit of time would definitely be harder with a single person. Overall 10 to 10 TV in my opinion I would definitely say to go for the 65 over the 55 if you're having a really hard time deciding I hope that this review helped you. Side note I definitely would have posted pictures but my setup is not complete yet.
